AboutThis workshop is aimed at mainstream teachers.
We will be looking at the language development of deaf children as well as their socio-emotional development (including mental health) and how this impacts on their ability to access mainstream school. We will explore deaf awareness and its practical implementation in the classroom including simple signing and communication strategies. We will discuss various differentiation strategies that could be used in a mainstream class. This workshop will give you the opportunity to look at different ways the support staff work with the deaf students and explore ways of effective collaboration with staff from the DSC.
